Vishnu Down a Different Path

Image
The gods lead by Indra went up to Brahma to talk to Vishnua about their problem with Ravana. Ravana had performed tasks in the past that had granted him immunity to gods and demons. Vishnua was interested by this problem and thought he could maybe go down there himself as a human. However, he would have a demi-god son rather who would be able to take down Ravana himself. He knew King Dasharatha had 3 queens so he would only have to sleep with one of them. He knew Sumitra had asked him for a favor and that she would have to repay him. He went down to Ayodhya and found her sleeping in her chambers. He went up to her and woke her up and explained his problem. She was accepted his proposal because she was so thankful for what he had done for her before. He left her and told her to send for his messenger when the son was about to be had. He wanted her to explain to her husband the problem even though it will not his son, it will be a part of him family. Vishnu's demigod son was born Ra

Ramayana and Lakshama had decided to set out to find Sita. They find Hanuman and he decides to help because he is in a similar situation as Ramayana.     Sugriva,  starts to tell the story about hia demon brother Vali and how he locked him in a hole even though he wasn't dead.     H e asks Ramayana to fight her brother and he agrees. They fight and Ramayana hides in a bush and kills Vali with his bow. Everyone mourns over his death.     He now tells she will help Ramayana find Sita at the end of the season. He sends her monkey out and they come back to tell her that Sita is in Lanka and they are headed in the right direction.     Hanuman goes to Ravana to see if Sita is still there. Story Laboratory

This week I wrote a twine story. This was a really fun activity but it was also long in a way too. I found that as the more choices you made the story kept getting longer and longer to finish. My story was about a guy named John who went to a hotel and he was running from the cops because he robbed a bank. The choices led you to a single or a double room which decided if you friend and wife would be coming. It was an interesting experience to say the least. I don't think I see myself using this program for this class, but I really enjoyed having a play with it. It reminded me of a movie on Netflix a few years ago that you could play as you went along with the movie.  -"The Broken Legacy" my storybook-

Rama needed to cross the ocean, and he started getting frustrated so he shot his bow into the ocean, and made the King of the Ocean mad. He told him to call upon Nala to build him a bridge so that he could get across.     Ravana started to get nervous as Rama and his army of monkeys approached him. He sent out spies and they came back telling him to surrender. So Ravana tries to deceive Sita telling her that he killed Rama, but then Ravana gets called out to war.     During the Battle Ravans son Indrajit was using magic and began to injure a lot of the monkeys. The wind god flew in and heal a lot of the monkeys. He told Rama not to worry about why they are friends but that he will slay Ravana and get Sita back.     One of Ravanas brother Kumbhakarna was a great demon who terrorized the town but he always fell asleep for years. He was told of the monkeys and woke up and went out and ate thousands of them. However Rama severed his head off his bow.     After Ravanas son Indrajit i

Reading Notes (PDE Ramayana, Part B)

Part B- I will be doing C later this week and D as extra credit -Sita the Indian Goddess, artnindia.com- The beginning of the story starts with Rama's brother Bharata who was recently proclaimed the throne. His mother had sent out for him to be brought back to the kingdom, and he arrived and found out his father had died and his brother had been exiled. He said he would not get on the throne and would have Rama returned. The next part describes how Bharata has to perform the funeral rites for his father before he can go find Rama, he doesn't want to do this because he is grieving. Bharata finds Rama in the jungle and asks him to come back to the kingdom, but Rama says he can't go because he made a promise to his father that he would attend to the sire, and he says he would rather be a dead man than to commit those evil doing. Since it is their fathers wishes Bharata decides he will stay with Rama until he can return to the kingdom in 14 years. Bharata gives Rama gold sanda

Feedback Strategies

Image
Feedback Strategies     Why Do So Many Managers Avoid Giving Praise- The problem here is a lot of managers do not feel like it is there responsibility to give a lot of positive feedback. They think that when something goes wrong it is their job to fix that, but often when things are going right not all managers understand the importance of giving them that positive reinforcement. From my experience I definitely notice this problem. Bosses should be more open to making their employees feel better.      Be A Mirror     This article talks about how we need to be a mirror with our feedback. What I got from this is that sometimes the best feedback is helping people understand things on their own. If we are a mirror to someone this will help them develop their growth mindset. You want to help someone do it on their own not just do it for someone else. Being a guide for someone is good but it is even better to be someones mirror. Helping a person succeed on there own is the best guide for su

Topic Research

Image
Topics Research     At this point I think I have decided to go with relating my storybook to the NBA, so for this post I will be researching three different stories that I could relate to the NBA.     The first story I might use is the "Lion and The Hare" , in the Panchantra. This is a good story for me because it talks about the king of the forrest and I can easily relate this one to Lebron James the king of the NBA. It is a story though of how a lion requires the animals to bring him animals to eat so he doesn't eat the rest. However, the animals tell him of another lion who is really his reflection and leads him to kill himself.     The second story I picked is "The Foolish Friend" from the Panchantra. This is a story of how the king had a pet monkey, and the king fell asleep. A bee was trying to string the king but the monkey tried to kill the bee and killed the king on accident. I think this story could be related to a NBA story as well, maybe a story of

Week 3 Story: Bull Riding

The Country Wedding Proposal     There once was a time not too long ago where Johnny, a hardworking gifted young man, wanted to marry Taylor the prettiest girl in the town. Well Johnny knew that she was not any ordinary girl, and that he would have to prove to her father that he was worthy of his daughter. Taylor tells Johnny that all her family are going to be in town that weekend and that he should come so that he would get the chance to meet her dad.     Johnny was ready and decided he needed to get dressed to the T's for this event. He gets his new boots out and heads over to there house. The father greets Johnny "hey kid, you ready for tonight?". Johnny began to get nervous, simply curious what he was talking about. The night goes on and it's a grand night full of drinking and eating and good laughs. Johnny goes up to the father and begins to ask him if he can take his daughter out. The father explains that this is no ordinary girl and he's going to have to

Reading Notes Ramayana Part A

Reading Notes      The first two stories King Dasharatha and Dasharatha's son give us the backstory to the problem going on. There was two primary kingdoms Koshala and Janaka. King Dasharatha ruled over Koshala, and lived in a great big city surrounded by walls, but he had a problem none of his three wives could give him a baby. They decided to perform a horse sacrifice called the Ashwamendha, where you send the horse out and hopes it returns to the kingdom to sacrifice it. After a year the horse returned to the city, and they have a big ceremony with the queens and music to celebrate a promise of sons by the gods.     The next story involves the Gods and there drama. They had promised sons to the king and when they realised they couldn't do this they went to Vishnu the king of universe with there problem. He said he will help them and decides he will send him self down as human, and he becomes the 4 sons of Dasharatha.      Vishvamitra came to the city because his sacrifi

Feedback Thoughts

Image
Feedback Thoughts     Dealing with feedback is certainly a hard thing for anyone to deal with no one wants to be told what they are doing is wrong and that they need to do it better. The first article I read is "Silence the Critical Voices in your Head ". I really liked this article because it talked about silencing the negative noise in your head and searching out the positive and really focusing on this side of things. The best tip I got from this was to believe the positive things and act as if they were true. The second article that I read was "Why Rejection Hurts so much, and what to do about it"   this article talks about a way we can kind of accept this criticism by boosting our self esteem, and not criticizing ourselves to much. I have never liked being critiqued that much but I have gotten better at it throughout my life. This class is an interesting viewpoint of this because sometimes I feel like I need that critique to get better at what I am doing. -&q

Topic Brainstorm

Image
Topic Brainstorm     The Avengers-  For my first topic I am very interested in relating my storybook to the Avengers. Recently, there have been a lot of Avenger movies that have come out in the last 3-5 years so it would definitely be fun and interesting relating my story book to that. There is also a lot of gods and goddesses that can related to this as well. The website I would use is https://www.marvel.com/comics/characters/1009165/avengers. This website is a collection of all the marvel comics and I can definitely use this to heavily relate to the other stories.     NBA Playoffs- An interesting idea I had because I am such an avid basketball fan is to relate my stories to the NBA playoffs this year. This year in the NBA is a lot different due to all the background noise due to COVID and the fact that it is all in one location called the bubble. I think basketball would a tough one to connect all the stories to but if I was able to do it it would turn out to be an amazing storyboo

Week 2 Story: The Four Fisherman

Image
PORTFOLIO LINK: https://sites.google.com/view/philipsportfolio4/the-four-fisherman  The Four Fisherman There was once a time back in Australia where there were four different men sailing out on the Coral Sea. These men came from very different back grounds; a young skipper trying to make a living, a father trying to feed his kids, an experienced fishing man, and an old wise man. Everyone was out there to fish, but the wise man at this point in his life had earned a living and was fishing simply out of enjoyment and a little extra food at this point.   The clouds became gloomy and the young skipper began to fear a storm. He was sitting out on the end of his boat and he started to think to himself he might be too far out if a storm came. Well, the fishing was slow this day and the young skipper began to doze off. The boat caught a wave and his boat hit a bump and a bucket splashed on this man and he wakes up screaming that a storm is coming and starts running and slips on the water and f

Reading Notes Jatakas and The Indian Who Wrestled a Ghost

Image
Reading Notes Jatakas by Ellen C. Babbit- The beginning of the story starts out with a little rabbit who is laying under a palm tree, and he is thinking to himself what would happen if the world ended right now. Then some monkeys run by over him and accidentally drop a coconut right next to him and he believes the world is ending. He starts to run and tell the rest of the animals to run with him until they get to the lion. The lion hears him and says take me back to see what is ending the world only to see the coconut. This is a tale that is relatable and shows a common problem in our society. One person can lead a bunch of others to distress. I think I could make some solid connections to the theme of this story. I would have a more significant ending to this story, maybe a death or exile. The Indian Who Wrestled a Ghost by Katharine Berry Judson- This is a story of a man by himself who was journeying into the forrest on a warpath. The man first came across an owl and heard it hallo

Week 2 Reading Overview

Image
Reading Overview     The Ramayana that I have decided to read is the one by R. K. Narayan. I decided this one because I think I would prefer to read it because it is by one author and it said that it reads like a novel. I think this one will be easier to keep up with than switching between different authors and styles the entire way through. I might become a little confused with the other one so I decided this is the best fit for me.     The first comic book that caught my attention was Vali: The Downfall of an Arrogant King . I like the story of this because it seems like a story I have read before, and kind of similar to other biblical stories as well. It talks about a cave on an island and it reminded of the mythical story The Odyssey. This is definitely a comic I am interested in reading. The second comic that I am interested in is Andhaka: The Dark Lord Who Saw Light . I could not seem to find the summary to this one but the title alone got me interested. This one was under the
