Time Strategies

Image
Time Strategies This class, my plan is to stay on top of everything. My main work will be done Monday-Friday, and finishing the rest on Sunday's. For this class when I have a day with nothing else to do I need to go ahead and get started and get some of the things out of my way. I read two articles from the one's selected " Eat the Frogs First Thing in the Morning " and " Four Questions to Help you Overcome Procrastination ". I really enjoyed the eat the frogs article, because often I do find myself doing my best work when I just wake up and get it started. Nothing beats the feeling of getting your day done early and having the whole day to simply rest while others are working. -a graphic I made on canva. quote by Yoda from Star Wars-

Technology

Technology     On the technology side of things I feel like I am very up to date and ready to go this class. During my summer job I had a lot of work using canva so I already know how to make some custom images. I feel like any kid in this day and age is not going to be intimidated by having to use technology.  I like to use chrome, and feel like it is the most user friendly browser out there. -a photo made in canva by myself-

Thoughts on Assignments

Image
Assignments for Indian Epics     This class has a very interesting take on the school approach. I can't remember anytime in my life when I have taken a class that is similar to this one. I like how the assignments go week to week though and they grow onto each other. I think this makes it so you are learning and not wasting any time. The extra credit assignment that catches my eye is tech tips.  -a photo of a brain, something this class will need, by Issac Mao on Flickr-

Growth Mindset and What It Means To Me

Image
I had never head or Carol Dweck before or her ideas on growth mindset. This is an interesting topic because it definitely is important for students to struggle to make themselves better, and she talks about how we should reward this. To me if you stay in your comfort zone you are never going to get better. I think some of the top students in their classes get complacent and that is why a lot of kids catch them later on. I feel like most of my life in school at least I have been more focused on the grade and not how much I learned along the way. Something that sticks with me though is in basketball something I learned from the all time great point guard Steve Nash was from one of his quotes, "I am comfortable being uncomfortable." I am excited for this class to take a different approach to learning and see how this affects my success in this class. -"Steve Nash" by Chris Bucka on Flickr-

Introduction to Philip a Sports Management Major

Image
Hi I am Philip and this is my introduction for Indian Epics!      Okay, so first of all I am a senior Sports Management major here at the University of Oklahoma. I am from Fort Worth Texas, but I was originally born in Munich Germany. My dad works on military aircrafts so when I was 3 years old we moved to Fort Worth. In my free time I like to play NBA 2k, play golf with my friends, and also play or watch basketball. I currently work a lot with OU Fit and Rec, and I have two positions there maintenance crew at the Huff and Intramural Supervisor.       So one of the most important things about me is my dog. I have a black lab mix named Beau, and he is my best friend. Beau is one of the most loyal, smart, and friendly dogs I have ever met so he is the perfect companion. His favorite thing is to play fetch, and I can't even count how many hours during the original COVID lockdown we played fetch when I had no one else to hang out with. Beau is around a year old now, last summer I got

Storybook Favorites and an Idea

Image
Game of Thrones is an idea I am interested in after reading through some other story books and there introductions. Connecting the stories across two timelines seems really fun. -A picture from Blinbox on Flickr of the dragon skull used in Game of Thrones- Weapons in Star Wars-  https://sites.google.com/view/weapons-in-star-wars/home?authuser=0 This storybook is very interesting, this guy was obviously very interested in this topic and it got me thinking of ideas I could see myself doing in the future. I read the introduction to this one because it caught my attention because it was Star Wars, and it was even the first one I saw. This didn't seem like the easiest project because you obviously have to be very creative but you also have to know your topic extremely well if you go with an already established universe. I liked how he used music to give you an option to play while you read his work. The Epics of Food-  https://sites.google.com/view/paiges-storybook/home?authuser=0 When

Munich and Zion My Two Favorite Places

Image
My two favorite places have very different meaning to me. One is a place I haven't been to in over 18 years, and the other is a childhood favorite. I was born in Munich, Germany and this is a place that is very important to me, but my parents moved to America when I was just 3 years old. I have always dreamed of going back there and plan on going there soon, but pictures will have to suffice for now.  -St Peter's Cathedral Church by Barnys on Flickr- My other place is Zion National Park, I went there when I was a little kid with my family and remember it being the most beautiful place filled will adventure. Don't tell anyone but I even cried when I had to leave there.  -Zion National Park by Richard Schneider on Flickr-
