Vyasa and Ganesha:

Vyasa was the author and a character in the Mahabharata. However, he had the God Ganesha scribe this story for him. The semen of Uparicha fell into the river and a girl was born who was beautiful but had a fishy smell. The girls name was Satyavati and she was promised by the king if she stayed a virgin she would lose the fishy smell and smell beautiful.

King Shatanu and Ganga:

Ganga had made a deal that would make her the mother of the 8 Vasuses, and the King courted her and made her his wife. She told him if he was ever mean to him she would leave him. Everytime one one of the Vasuses was born she would drown them in the river and the king never wanted to say anything because he did not want Ganga to leave him.

Devavrata's Vow:

Devavrata said that if Satyavati never married him he would never accept the throne. She marries him and they have two kids.

Bhishma and at the Swayamvra:

BiBishma wanted to find his step brother a wife and came up with 3 candidates.

    Pandu and his wives

-    Pandu shot at two deers but they turned out to be his wife and Brahmin so he is now cursed to die in the arms of one of his wives.

    The Contest

    All the disciples were now placed into a contest to show off their archery skills.
